Social reviews and testimonials plugins for WordPress

by Valberg Már

There are not many social reviews and testimonials plugins for WordPress that allow you collect from multiple social media platforms.

But there are allot of plugins out there for reviews and/or testimonials, giving the user power to give their testimonials and you might think, what is the difference?

Well, the difference is that, with reveiw and testimonial plugins, you collect them on your website, with social reveiw and testimonials, we are reffering to Facebook reveiws, Google Reviews and so on.

Using those social platforms to gather for you reviews is just one way of many tools to get those testimonials, but how to get them onto your website?

As one of our clients didn´t just want that free WordPress plugin to get some Facebook reveiws, he wanted the whole deal, from what ever source he could think of and/or was signed up for.

So there we were, searching the internet like headless chickens trying to meet that demand and we managed to find two fantastic tools (and maybe more as we go on) that we want to share with you.

First up is the Repuso Reviews & Testimonials plugin. They offer an impressive amount of social platforms and services to get some reviews from, or 23 platforms/services.

Not only do they offer 23 platforms, but they also post on their website that they are ready to meet customers needs by adding on other platforms if needed, that is quite impressive.

Though, we decided to check up on that and of course, the developer is only willing to add what is sensible and meets the need of most of his customers.

So no, you won´t be able to ask for that small directory in your home country that you have gathered a few reviews on.

This plugin also includes filters to filter out the worst reviews, both automatic and manual exclusion so you can only display the best ones on your website.

They offer widgets and they are fully customizable. You can not only choose what kind of look you want, but also where it appears on your website.

You can also collect testimonials of course and have the plugin filter out if it´s bad, then write it on the website, if good, then also recommend they go and rate you on other social platforms, thus, filtering bad and good ones.

This plugin has solid 5 star rating on Facebook and fantastic rating on Trustpilot

The plugin is super easy to use, straight forward and comes with nice instructional video. If you don´t want any hassle, then this plugin is a must have.

Price; from $72/year

WP Review Slider Pro is a heavy weight champion, offering an impressive amount of features. If you thought the Repuso Reviews & Testimonials plugin was offering allot of platforms to get reviews from, WP Review Slider Pro blows on that with an outstanding offer of 80+ platforms/services.

What you´ll get in this plugins is;

  • Slider or Grid Display which allows you to turn your reviews in to fully functional sliders with all kinds of options!
  • Pick and Choose your reviews to show based on length, rating, source page, and a lot more.
  • Download Reviews from 65+ other sites so you can display them on your site.
  • Customizable Templates , easily change the colors, hide/show the stars and the date, and even change the border radius.
  • Email Notifications when the plugin finds a new low rating review!

And much more. This plugin is also free, but unfortunately only for one social channel at a time and you can only choose 5 channels, which you will have to install 5 separate plugins for.

This plugin has huge amount of features and it certainly delivers.

Now, this plugin is by no means Nr.2 in our books, in fact, we are very impressed with it. We did though have some issues on iPads but that could also be the combination of the plugins and/or the theme as this is not a known problem.

Another, It is a bit misleading to say that you can get 80+ platforms when there is a pre selection of about 16 platforms, the rest is a scraping service.

The scraping feature is cool to have, but it´s bound to another service which you have a limited number of scrapes and have to buy more if you run out of it, but no worries, you have 2000 scrapes before that happens.

But all in all, a really impressive plugin. The interface might be bit cleaner and easier to use but for a website owner who knows what s/he is doing, this shouldn´t be a problem.

We highly recommend this plugin.

Price range; from $29/year or one time fee from $99 (lifetime license)

Are there more?

Well, possibly, we are always looking for good multi tools and we will of course add to this list if something impresses us.

There are of course small tools out there that get reviews just from one location like Facebook, Google or what ever the service is and if it´s big enough to warrant a plugin for it.

Then there are plugins that have 2 to maybe 5 or 6 social platforms but we don´t want to focus on those nor the single ones, it simply isn´t practical if you want to have the option of expanding, which you certainly can with these two we mentioned.

And finally…

Always try and find the Swiss army knife if you can when finding plugins, try and avoid plugins that are highly specific in what they do if the subject is as broad as the subject of social media or what ever it is.

Please be sure to leave a comment and let us know what you think and/or if you know of your favorite plugins, even if it has nothing to do with this subject, we are always looking for new cleaver plugins we can use.

Please, don´t forget to share if you like this article.

Amazing blog! Do you have any hints for aspiring writers? I’m planning to start my own website soon but I’m a little lost on everything. Would you advise starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option? There are so many choices out there that I’m totally confused .. Any ideas? Cheers!
